Oil City Comebacks Take Part in Offseason Fundraiser
The Oil City Comebacks had a difficult year during the 2024-2025 NHL season. With a terrible record of 16 losing seasons, the team hoped to find success last year but were unfortunately unable to rebound. Instead, their decline was even worse with the same losing record of 0-82.
With major trade proposals this year, all of which were rejected, the team has had no major changes to ensure improvement next season. Their inability to gain new talent is evident by how they wasted their 1st round draft pick on a mascot for the rival team. Now, they are facing the possibility of complete bankruptcy.
It is now the midway point of the summer months and the Comebacks must do something to prevent a complete loss of their finances. With no sponsors willing to support them, the local franchise has turned to a fundraising campaign. For the next three days, fan (there's only one) can stop by the mall parking lot to contribute to the Comebacks cause of saving the team. Although there is not enough money in the county to pay even one player on the roster, the comebacks are confident because they are delusional.
A tin can has been placed on the curb outside the old Sears building. The can is recognizable by its cylinder shape and the silver tin look. Hockey fans can support the team by dropping donations inside. All proceeds go to support nothing because the team does not actually exist.
