Rules

1. Eligibility

Open to all participants ages 16 and older.

Must reside in the United States.

Employees, contributors, or fictional staff members of The Venango Republic are not eligible (looking at you, Blobbert).


2. How to Enter

Submit one (1) original headline using the entry form on this page.

Only one entry per person will be accepted.

Entries containing profanity, slurs, harassment, or unlawful content will be taken before the almighty Zues and expelled into the eternal abyss.


3. Contest Period

Entries will be accepted from the 1st of every month through the 28th of every month.

All submissions must be received by 11:59 PM on the 28th (Exceptions will be made for contestants residing in Uganda).

The winner will be announced by the 1st of every month. 


4. Prize

One (1) winner will receive an official Venango Republic T-shirt.

Prize is priceless but has no cash value and cannot be exchanged or transferred.

The Venango Republic reserves the right to write this sentence.


5. Winner Selection

Entries will be judged by The Venango Republic staff based on creativity, humor, and how well the headline fits the satire style of the publication.

The winner will be notified via the contact information they provide.

If the winner does not respond within 72 hours, another winner may be selected. If another winner is selected and does not respond in 72 hours, another winner may be selected. If that winner does not respond in 72 hours, another winner may be selected. If that winner does not respond, another winner may be selected. If he doesn't respond, WE WILL EAT THE SHIRT!


6. Rights & Permissions

By entering the contest, participants grant The Venango Republic permission to publish submitted headlines online or in promotional materials.

Participants maintain ownership of their headline ideas but allow the publication to feature or repost them.... Let's be honest though..... What else are you going to do with the headline? Sell it to the Onion? 


7. Conduct

Entries must be original and created solely by the participant.

Any attempt to tamper with the contest, cheat, or impersonate Bigfoot will get nowhere because you seriously only have the power to submit a headline. Also, nobody here looks like Big Foot. 


8. Liability

The Venango Republic is not responsible for technical errors, lost submissions, or Mayor Blunders accidentally sitting on the entry box.

By participating, entrants agree to release The Venango Republic from any liability related to the contest or prize.


9. Agreement to Rules

Participation in the contest constitutes full acceptance of these rules.
