  • Marienville Crime Reaches New Levels as Table and Chairs Go Missing

It is the biggest crime Marienville has seen, aside from kids escaping from Abraxas and stealing a car from some dude who left his keys in the ignition. A man took to Facebook Saturday evening expressing frustration over four metal chairs and a table. These weren't just any patio furnishings. These particular dine out sets were used to seat Kris Kringle and a rabbit who poops eggs once a year. The man posting his frustrations we will refer to as Ed Ed and Eddie. He took to the Things Happening in Marienville page submitting the first significant thing this page has seen in weeks. Later that day, his post went viral by Forest County standards when one person, whose name resembles Alexander the Great (but with a femanine persona) shared his post to the What's Happening in Forest County page. 50 person county page receiving news from 5 person town page.... Just an observation....... Your county is kinda small and probably only needs one of these pages....... You do you Forest..... So far, there is no information as to the whereabouts of the table and chairs. Finding them is top priority for the Marienville Police Department because Abraxas hasn't had a runner in three days. Additionally, although a new table is arguably affordable, the gas being wasted on the commute to the Clarion Walmart makes such a purchase unjustified and will probrably set the owners back two paychecks. I mean, Marienville is REALLY FAR from everything. Just return the table you prick!

  • Western Pensylvania Pushes for Baseball League After MLB Denotes Oil City to Minors

2025 marks the first year in Major League Basball history that an entire team will get denoted to the minors. The situation is not looking good for Oil City. With the Success now on a 54 game losing streak and not a single hit made by any player this season, even the minor leagues have rejected them. Oil City's team is so bad, they have been dropped to no league at all. With local fans eager to see their team play again, people have taken to social media asking for cities throughout North Western PA to start putting together teams to form a minor league. Fortunately, the voices of the Oil City residents have been heard and the most industrial cities this corner of the state have answered the call with teams representing the pride of each metropolis. Here are the names and logos for each one so far.... Titusville This rocket is only 2 feet off the ground.... A town that takes pride in the fact that their highschool sports team name has nothing to do with their accomplishments, Mayor Dumb Dumb of Titusville has agreed to keep the colors but change the name from Rockets to Duds. Meadville We don't know what they have accomplished..... We really don't know what to say about this towns successes. They make dog food and that's about it..... Brookville Yup..... Enough said..... Franklin Just because we can..... They probably are the only ones who won't. But that's why we chose the name. Irony makes for good satire.... Linesville The L stands for Last Place.... Ten years of winning this award, Linesville says they will embrace their identity for the sake of baseball. Grove City We dare you to try! That's litterally the only reason people travel there. You have nothing else going for you Grove City..... Union City Why do we call this a city? They are smaller than a recomended dose of Gas Ex. What would them uniting accomplish anyway? Erie Laugh you sensitive swine! I don't see a sea. I don't see wolves. I see a giant lake, and people walking their dogs. Put the two together and you have what the logo demonstrates..... Hermitage It's gotta be true! I have never been. But it is Western PA so it must hold water. Warren Shut it! You know it's true! Let's just call the town Warron. Then, it can be called the Warron drugs. Slippery Rock This joke was too easy.... A population dominated by grandmothers in a town called Slippery Rock? What do you think is going to happen? Butler Spells different by still sounds the same. The planet is Uranus for those of you who are slow! Mercer Always armed, rarely accurate. Your biggest pride is college town people try to escape and a youth placement facility people try to escape. Marienville Proudly redefining minor league nonsense Just drive through once. You'll understand why they chose the name. Sharon Coached by confusion. The name was chosen to reflect the town’s proud tradition of last-minute planning, mismatched uniforms, and general disarray. Edinboro You will never be Erie! Just sit down and let the real teams play the sport. Clarion If it starts, it's a miracle. A college towns with students who probrably can only afford that much. Oil City What our success looks like.... Our denial gets us nowhwere, but we still pretend either way. So far, the league has signed 3 players and a severed limb. It is expected to kick off immediately before folding after the first game. Tickets are available online at "this site doesn't actually exist dot com."

  • When Making Her Happy Meant Losing His Say — Equality’s Not a Gender Issue

A study recently found that a high percentage of husbands are winding up in mental institutions. According to reports, many of these individuals were once respected members of society before suddenly losing their sense of value. We here at The Venango Republic  were granted access to the Polk Mental Institution — where many outside the county still Polk fun at the fact it technically doesn’t exist anymore. But after what we witnessed inside, we’re starting to think it might be the last sane place left for the modern married man. Our lead journalist, Jeremy Jetfuel, accompanied by ChatGPT, were able to sit down with several of the patients. Because the facility is just as fictional as our staff, the two had no problem carrying on full conversations with the residents. In fact, it was the most realistic group therapy session we’ve ever conducted with imaginary people in a defunded building. A survey of 12 patients revealed that all subjects were driven to insanity by their commitment to the “happy wife, happy life” philosophy. Each man admitted he genuinely wanted his wife to be happy and was willing to be flexible on significant issues. According to the data, however, every single patient made the same fatal error — they accidentally married a brick wall. The surveys also revealed an epidemic of panic attacks linked to the slow death of personal ambition — a phenomenon doctors now refer to as Dream Substitution Syndrome . One patient said his breakdown began the moment his wife said, “We are going to grad school,” even though he had just enrolled in HVAC certification. Another recalled hearing, “We’re getting chickens and waffles,” despite being allergic to feathers and stupid food combinations. In nearly every case, the word “we”  was used like a royal decree, with he  just tagging along like an unpaid intern in his own life. Blood pressure monitors spiked as patients recounted being spoken to like toddlers in their mid-20s — complete with tone correction, chore charts, and timeouts for having opinions. As for the countless men outside the institution with REAL  happy marriages, surveys showed a consistent theme: mutual respect. Apparently, when both partners — regardless of gender — are allowed to have thoughts, and those thoughts aren’t immediately bulldozed, the relationship does better. Who would’ve guessed that simply valuing someone the way you want to be valued could be the actual key to a REAL  happy life? And what about the women who’ve found themselves in the same shoes as these institutionalized men? Surveys show they exist too — plenty of them. Once again proving that gender has nothing to do with who’s right or wrong in a marriage. Evidently, selfishness does — and it's amazing how quickly “we” becomes “me” when there’s a throw pillow budget involved.

  • Tourist Inquiring of Oil Directed to Broken Down Van Exhuast

A confused out-of-town tourist came to town today looking for the last remaining oil reserves. According to reports, Daniel Duck, a historian who learned about Oil City through exaggerated boasting, approached locals with a puzzled look on his face. When asked why he appeared confused, Duck stated that he expected to find big industry. Residents immediately directed him to a broken down Oldes Mobile behind the abandoned Kmart. Ducks confused look solidified upon seeing the rusted car. To make matters worse, locals looked proud when announcing to the tourist that the last of the oil reserves could be found in the engine. Duck has since left the town claiming that he is unimpressed with what he was misled to percieve as a metropolis. Residents say they have never heart that fancy word before, but thanked him for classifying their giant town as such.

  • Page Approves Man's Post So Late, It's Now An Obituary

The What's Happening In Venango County Page has officially approved a local mans post after weeks of waiting. According to reports, Mr. Patient Impatient has been waiting five weeks for the county event page to grant his submission. "It has been a long hard wait" says Mr. Patient Impatient. "I sincerely have been off my rocker and back on it. One moment I'm like 'it can wait' and the next moment, I'm pulling out my hair." Mr. Patient Impatient has planned a special celebration for the approval of his post requesting that rogain be added to the gift registry. With many in the community still waiting for their posts to be approved, a petition has been submitted to enforce imediate approval on all posts. It is pending aproval on the same page..... Mr. Patient Impatient is not angry about the delay. His Easter egg hunt advertisement was approved just in time for the Halloween candy to be discounted. In that time frame, NASA has also been to Mars and back. Mr. Patient Impatient had a backup plan just in case the post wasn't approved in time. He snail mailed the exact same flyer to all county residents. Coincidentally, the event was a success last April. Now that the post has been approved, Mr. Patient Impatient is unsure what to do with his life. With so little happening in Venango County, he thinks he might just submit another post to be delayed for no reason whatsoever.

  • Clarion Traffic Brought to A Stop By Man Going 20 Below

A line of ten cars were forced to take their good time on the road today due to some guy with a lead foot. According to sources, the unidentified man suddenly slammed his breaks after passing a sign that said "brake for Moose." Despite the sign refering to the Clarion Moose Club, the man still dropped his speed to an obnoxious 20 below the limit. Police say they would have pulled him over, but that would be counter productive. The man managed to drive all the way to Cranberry maintaining the same speed before pulling into the Cranberry Mall parking lot. Sources say that when the man exited his vehicle, disgruntled drivers tried to confront him. Unfortunately, they fell into a pothole and have not been seen since. As for the unidentified man, authorities say he still hasn't left the Mall Parking lot. Aparently he decreased his speed to less than zero once he realized he was surrounded by potholes. Experts estimate he will be navigating the parking lot for the next month. Until then, drivers have been given the go ahead to flip off anyone who thinks "speed limit" means "number off limits."

  • The Man Behind the Venango Republic: Blobbert Blobfish Speaks

When the Venango Republic first surfaced from the depths of obscurity, few expected it to be led by a creature with no bones, no eyelids, and no filter. Yet Blobbert Blobfish — Founder, CEO, and walking metaphor for moral flexibility — has propelled the publication to new heights, or at least to the surface level of local satire. With a mind as murky as his habitat and leadership style best described as “moistly hands-off,” Blobbert has quietly (and sometimes audibly) become the most influential blob-based figure in Western Pennsylvania media. 60 Minutes got to sit down with Blobbert Blobfish for what was meant to be a one-hour interview — but due to Blobbert’s inability to understand linear time, turned into a 60-day existential dive into everything from his upbringing in Upper Blobbington to his unshakeable hatred for beach towels. Seated in a puddle-resistant recliner, Blobbert opened up about life before The Republic, including his first job at Blob Lobster , where he was let go for sobbing uncontrollably whenever someone ordered calamari. “They say don’t take your work home,” he blubbed. “But I am  my work.” He also spoke fondly of his most prized possession: his Blobblehead  — a wobbly, fish-shaped figurine that resembles a melted candle version of himself. “It reminds me to stay grounded,” he said, clutching it tightly. “Which is easy, because I naturally sink.” Blobbert explained that the blobblehead travels with him everywhere — board meetings, bathtub think sessions, and even his failed TED Talk titled “Slippery Leadership: Why I’m Damp and You Should Be Too.” More revelations surfaced during the interview — including his high school romance with Blobara Swampstein , his first car (a 1984 Chevy Bloblero ), and his long-standing fear of dry towels. “They’re the silent killers of blob culture,” he warned. As Blobbert slowly receded into the cushions, he paused to reflect on his greatest achievement. “The Republic isn’t just news,” he murmured, “it’s a lifestyle. It’s a ripple in a kiddie pool of thought.” As the interview wrapped and Blobbert oozed out of the chair with the grace of a deflated beanbag, one thing was clear: behind every half-melted face and ambiguous puddle is a visionary who built a media empire on wit, wobble, and unwavering dampness. When asked what’s next for The Venango Republic , Blobbert simply held up his blobblehead, gave it a gentle jiggle, and said, “Wherever this thing nods, I follow.”

  • Venango Residents Discover Sun Still Exists After Week of Cloud Cover

It was a shock unlike any other. Residents all over the industrial cities of Venango County reported a feeling of surprise when they discovered that the Sun still shines. An entire week of cloud cover and heavy rainfall stretching all over the dried-up oil region left locals believing they would never see daylight again. However, when the clouds moved away, they were caught off guard to find that the rain did not put out the Sun. Instead, the Sun withstood all the wetness that had occurred. "I genuinely thought that our famous fireball had met its match," says Local Dunce, who doesn't realize he just told a pun. With observers not realizing that the Sun is 94 million miles away — primarily because no one in the county has made it past the second grade — the Sun withstanding days of downpour leads many to believe that it has invincible fortitude. Local officials are announcing plans to fly there and see if it can be a safe haven in the case of an attack. They just don't know how to get off the ground yet. Also, who the heck is going to attack us you weirdos? The people trying to knock sense into us?

  • Success Backup Pitcher Takes Bat to Head

It seems to be a trend for the Oil City Success pitchers to stand in the most illogical places when pitching to the opposition. In the last three games, each pitcher has been caught off the mound. Last night's game, however, was incredibly unusual. Harold Pirate, the MLB's only eye-patched pitcher, literally stood within swinging distance of the batter — his logic being that the pitches would get to the catcher quicker. Aside from the fact that the Success doesn't have a catcher on home plate, Pirate's decision was costly to the implants in his head. By the end of the first inning, Pirate took 32 bats to the face and had to be carried off on a stretcher. Unfortunately, there were no other backup pitchers to replace him. This forced the team to pitch the ball from second base. They lost again...

  • Titusville Man Recognized in Walmart Twice Declares Himself Public Figure

Darryl Pewters, a local celebrity who has amassed a following of 2 people, recently was recognized for the second time in a month. While shopping in the canned goods section of walmart, Pewters turned the corner, bumping into someone who said he "looked familiar." "My fame is growing too fast for me to handle" says Pewters, who grew up thinking that zero was an astronomical number. "All I want is some time to myself. But every time I turn around, some person is rarely calling out to me to ask who I am." With all this attention Pewters is getting, locals believe he may be on his way to nowhere successful. "We always knew he would amount to nothing" says Mrs. Downer, Mr. Pewters mother in law. Tour dates to see Mr. Pewters will be posted tomorrow on the Sheetz bathroom door. Eventually, staff will take it down once they notice he posts it. Mainly because he has nothing prepared for his appearance due to lacking talent in every category. Also, nobody knows who he is. So why the heck would they show up in the first place?

  • Local Man Claims Grocery Cart is Haunted Because it Only Turns Left

Earl Tickle, a local who really needs to consider changing his name, reported to police a haunting at the Oil City Giant Eagle. His reason? His cart only moved one direction.... According to police, Mr. Tickle, who we highly recommend changes his name immediately, states that his cart had a mind of its own. When asked if it was moving in random directions, he stated "no. Just left when I would try to push it straight...." Witnesses say Tickle performed a full exorcism using a can of aerosol, velveeta cheese, and a stick of dynamite. Fortunately, he was too demented to know how to light a match. Police were able to remove him from the store before he blew up the cart. As for the cart, it has been donated to the grocery store he stole it from last week. Yup..... It didn't even belong to the store he was shopping at. He litterally took it from a Tops in Union City before complaining about it being haunted.

  • Clarion’s Outdoor Movie Night Cancelled After DVD Player Mistaken for Microwave

An event meant to kick off a new community tradition turned sour this week when members of the City Council mistook their equipment for an appliance. In all actuality, the coordinators had the right resources, but for some reason, were led to believe they accidentally grabbed a microwave instead of the DVD player. "We genuinely thought we made a mistake," says Mr. Eyesore, the town's most attractive man whose name actually refers to how his eyes feel physically. "We thought that the DVD player was a microwave and therefore, sent the townsfolk home disappointed." The event coordinators later discovered their mistake when they realized they couldn't fit their bagels into the DVD slot. By that point, it was too late in the evening to call the citizens back to watch the movie. The event has been postponed until the City Council can replace the coordinators with legally seeing individuals. They are also hoping such replacements will have common sense. As for Mr. Eyesore, he is still recovering from his laser eye surgery which went south when the doctors accidentally swapped the lasers with the razors. Frankly, with hair growing unnaturally from his pupils, he arguably needed a shave anyway.
