The Haskell House featured a fundraiser/food drive Wednesday afternoon put on by the Catholic Daughters of America. According to coordinators, the cause is meant to "fill in the cracks" of community needs by offering services that other non-profits may easily miss. In colaboration with the Clarion Kindness Project and the University Resource Room, the venue was used to collect monetary and non-perishable food donations.
The night featured several speakers including the President of Penn West University, a professor from Penn West University, and a local artist named Jake who looks nothing like the guy from State Farm.

Donors filled the hall instantly, going straight for the food. Our lead journalist, Jeremy Jetfuel, is still wondering what the spinach dip tasted like.

By 5 PM, the speakers hit the stage. We took photos, but unfortunately had to edit the speakers out due to our website’s policy of keeping people anonymous. Below, you can see images of each speaker in a world where they would be invisible.

Each speaker reviewed three literary works: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, The God of the Woods by Liz Moore, and James by Percival Everett, while drawing inspiration from the texts for the listening ears.
By the end of the night, a raffle was held for participants to win prizes generously donated from local merchants. This also included a 50/50 drawing.

The purpose of the event was to support the local Clarion Kindness Project and the University Resource Room. Each nonprofit seeks to help the community by providing essential support to families in need.
We would like to thank the event coordinators for giving us the privilege of writing this semi-humorous piece about the event. We also encourage you to follow their Facebook pages, visit their websites, and consider offering your support.
